Start your tour with the southern exposure of the main porch, nicely shaded
in the late afternoon. |
 |
The fountain is the centerpiece of
the rose garden overlooked by the main porch. This is a literary rose
garden in which all roses are named after authors and characters. |
| The southwest yard is a sunny open space
bordered by a berm planted in shrubs and perennials. |
 |
 |
West of the house, in a Zen-like setting,
is the world's only "weeping persimmon," one of many water
features throughout the property. |
| The Whimsy Garden in the northwest features
unusual garden ornaments, such as this Tree Face. |
 |
 |
The Crane Pool northeast of the house has a marble frog from China
spitting water in the direction of two brass cranes, who are clearly
not intimidated |
| The antiqued pavilion is the focus of the southeast Sculpture Garden
of Greco-Roman statuary. |

Although the Ruddick-Nugent House is a
Columbus bed and breakfast, nearby is a
thriving and inspiring art community. The Brown County Art Colony
attracts artists from all over the region to inspire creativity and
imagination. Nashville, Indiana accommodations
can be tough to come by, but our B and B is close enough and will inspire
on its own. We’ve renovated the gardens to become a tranquil space
inviting people to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
Artists or any guests looking for the relaxing
atmosphere and charm of a Nashville, IN B&B
will find it here in our gardens. Spend some time enjoying the themed
designs and landscaping we’ve recently worked on. Zen like settings,
beautiful sculptures and wonderful fountains can all be found on the
grounds. Plenty of shade and sun are available at all times of the day and
year. You can find a quiet area to reflect, meditate and become
inspired. Below are more descriptions and pictures of the gardens
and their features.
